Only 145 kilometres (90 miles) north from Los Angeles and situated between the Pacific Ocean and the Santa Ynez Mountains, you can revel in the mild climate and sunshine of Santa Barbara all year round. Enjoy sunbathing and long walks on the spectacular Butterfly Beach, whale watching, wine tastings at nearby wineries, golfing, shopping at Stearns Wharf, one of the oldest operating wooden piers on the West Coast, or visit the Santa Barbara Museum of Art.

    Big Sur refers to the breathtaking coastline along Highway One between San Simeon and Hearst Castle in the south to Carmel in the north. Drive past the majestic Redwood trees that line the road and over the famous Bixby Bridge, one of the tallest single-span reinforced concrete arch bridges in the world. Pebble Beach is located on the Monterey Peninsula 200 kilometres (124 miles) south of San Francisco and is home to the famous golf course, Pebble Beach Golf Links. Embark on one of the most scenic drives in the world – 17 mile drive. This famous coastal landmark stretches from Pebble Beach to Pacific Grove.

    Known as the City by the Bay, San Francisco is a cosmopolitan and bohemian city like no other. Explore the vibrant arts and culture scene in the Yerba Buena neighbourhood, Golden Gate Theatre or the De Young Museum.     Visit Universal Studios, Rodeo Drive, the Hollywood sign on Mount Lee, the Hollywood Walk of Fame and enjoy the breathtaking view at Griffith Observatory. Indulge in shopping at the designer boutiques in Rodeo Drive, Beverly Hills – the epitome of fashion, luxury and lifestyle.     Drive to Santa Barbara

    Your Pacific Coast Road Trip commences with your drive to Santa Barbara along the Pacific Coast Highway (also known as Highway 1) in your car rental. The trip will take approximately 2 hours, however we suggest stopping and indulging in a beachside lunch at Ristorante Al Mare, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. or Mariasol Cocina Mexicana on the iconic pier of Santa Monica enjoying views of Malibu and South Bay. You will reside in Santa Barbara for the next 2 nights. Known as the American Riviera, Santa Barbara will entice you with its sunshine, magnificent beaches and lively arts scene. Shop and dine at Stearns Wharf, one of the oldest operating wooden piers on the West Coast, visit the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, sunbathe and take long walks on the Butterfly Beach or enjoy wine tastings at nearby wineries.

    Drive along the Pacific Coast to Carmel or Pebble Beach

    Drive from Santa Barbara to Big Sur/Carmel (Travel time: Approximately 5 hours 30 minutes) or Pebble Beach (Travel time: Approximately 6 hours) along the Pacific Coast Highway in your car rental. You will drive past Pismo and Avila Beach enjoying spectacular scenery of the Pacific Coast and over the famous Bixby Bridge. You will stay in this oasis of relaxation and beauty for 2 nights. Visit Carmel by the Sea, a European-style village with a spectacular white sandy beach, designer boutiques and art galleries. Take a journey along 17 mile drive stretching from Pebble Beach to Pacific Grove. Embrace the natural splendour of The Lone Cypress, Spanish Bay and Stillwater Cove.

    Drive to San Francisco

    Drive to San Francisco through the majestic Redwood trees that line the road as you drive along Highway One. Your journey will take approximately 4 hours from Big Sur or 3 hours from Pebble Beach without any stops. You will spend 3 nights in San Francisco. Take a self-driven or chauffeur-driven city tour visiting historically significant attractions such as the famous Golden Gate Bridge with its magnificent architecture and design, the historic Alcatraz prison and Ghirardelli Square in the Fisherman’s Wharf Area. You can shop at Union Square Shopping District or Metreon. In the evening, choose to enjoy a Michelin star-rated dinner at any of the acclaimed restaurants in San Francisco. Excursions included in Option 2 are a private city tour in a chauffeur-driven vehicle and a private Napa Valley wine tour including wine tastings.
